BENITO JUARZBenito Juarez The person that is being typed about here is Benito Juarez. A man that is known as an immense hero to Mexico. Not only through war but political reasons to. Benito was born in 1806 in the Zapotec village (Encarta). By the time of his third birthday both his mother and father had died so he went to go live with his grandparent. Shortly after he had moved in with them hey had past away to. By this time Benitos life was not going to good and it was about to get worse (Discovering Biography). Benito had moved in with his uncle where he was poorly treated. At his uncles he tended livestock and cleaned he did not have much education and wanted to learn more. So at the age of 12 Benito knew there was a better life waiting for him so he went to go live with his sister in Oaxaca. That when Benito life took a turn for the better. He took up a residency with Don Antonio Salanueva where he became a bookbinder and lay member of a religious order in exchange for servant services (Discovering Biography). Don offered to pay for Benitos schooling and Benito accepted. The school that he went to was a school of religion. Three years later when Mexico gained it independence from Spain Benito was able to leave school and enroll in a local seminary college (Discovering Biography). In 1831 Benito had a change of heart for religion and goes to study law he says about religion "for which I felt an instinctive repugnance." (Great leaders of the world) Benito studied law for about ten years until he became a judge in 1841(http://cs.utep.edu/juarez/benito.html)). Then after he was done that job of his he went to be the governor of Oaxaca from (1847-1852). Then in the year of 1853 the government of Santa Anna exiled him then in 1855 he returned to overthrow Santa Anna. He over threw the government and became the minister of justice. Her did that for two years then he got the job that made him famous he became the president of Mexico City (http://cs.utep.edu/juarez/benito.html)). Benito ran for two terms but only ran for one and a half because he past away. During those terms he lead liberals to victory against conservatives the war was called the war of reform. Benito also held the French out of Mexico when Maximilian tried to invade Mexico (Encyclopedia). |
