CAPITAL PUNISHMENTCapitol Punishment Essay It has been proposed that Capitol Punishment be abolished in the United States. I strongly agree with this statement. First of all, we do not have the right to play God. We should not be able to decide the time or place of a persons death. It is not our decision to kill any human. No matter what the circumstances are. We should not be able to decide when a person should die. Killing people is wrong. God has the right to choose when its time for a person to die. We should not be able to vote on whether a person die or not. Last time I checked we are not God. It is just plain and simple; we do not have any right to choose the life of another human being. Secondly, we are lowering our selves to their standards. If the person chooses to kill someone he should be punished severely, but killing him will not solve anything. It is just showing others that we can be just as cruel as the murderer himself. We are playing at their level. Lowering our standards to theirs. This does not help the situation. Time in jail would make the murderer raise to our society standards, not our society lower to theirs. Executing them would not solve anything. It only shows that killing is all right and accepted by society. Lastly, it is extremely unfair and unjust. It is unfair to everyone. It is unfair to take a persons life, no matter what. It is unfair to the family members of the person's life we are taking. It is cruel to take a life away. We are killing somebody in cold blood. Any way you look at it, it's murder. It is unfair to society to execute them. By executing them, it does not teach them anything. They wouldn't have to worry about anything anymore. They would be dead. It would let them take the easy way out. By leaving them in jail, it would make them have to think about what the have done. Guilt would play a huge role in their punishment. Also knowing that they will be stuck in a little 12' by 12' room for the rest of their life, would be a more severe punishment and torture. In conclusion, I feel that Capitol Punishment is wrong! We have in no possible way the right to play God. It is not our choice. We are only lowering ourselves to their standards by executing them. We would be doing exactly what they did to receive such a punishment. Again it is extremely unfair and unjust. Not only that, it is uncivilized. Many reasons go to support my opinion. That is why I feel that Capitol Punishment should be abolished from the United States completely.
