THE SYMPHANYThe movement was very pleasant; some of it seemed almost opera-like. The tempo was slow at first and very legato, the soft flowing sound of the strings was very peaceful. This was the ritornello, and the full sound of the orchestra made the music echo through out the concert hall. The music sounded very classical in nature, something that sounded familiar to me from class. The Finale was played with fervor and much concentration on the faces of the orchestra. The loud clashing of the symbols made it sound like a strong finish. Although I felt that the music selection could have been better, I really enjoyed this assignment. I felt the ambiance was very classical. The concert was filled with people dressed in tuxes and long evening gowns. I was impressed that people actually still go to event like this. I have found a new appreciation to the classics and will must likely return to another symphony soon, after this class. Bibliography The San Bernardino Symphany |
